Malta-Gozo fast ferry service from June

The first fast ferry service between Malta and Gozo will start running from June operated by Gozo Fast Ferries and Virtu Ferries. The trip between the Grand Harbour in Valletta and the Mgarr Harbour in Gozo will last around 45 minutes carrying only passengers. Details about prices and schedules are still to be announced. However, the Gozo minister Clint Camilleri announced that Gozitans will still benefit from reduced-price tickets. All passengers will benefit from free access to the Upper Barrakka Gardens lift to enter or leave Valletta.


For the time being, Virtu Ferries will operate the fast ferry service using its existing vessels but has plans to build new ones specifically for the trip to Gozo.

Update 14th April 2021: The Gozo Fast Ferry catamarans will provide the facility for passengers to travel with bicycles and kick-scooters.

Update 16th April 2021: Customers who have a Tallinja card will be able to use their card to board the GozoFast Ferry. Passengers will also be able to use their contacless bank cards, mobiles and smart watches to pay.
